I was worried that I would get bored during my 6 week break but it ended up being jam packed! First I went to visit my friends from undergrad in NYC for Santacon, then, I had to miss graduation to go home and get my wisdom teeth out (blah). I was home for only two short weeks before driving my Subaru back down to Baltimore. New Years Eve was one of the last times most of my friends from nursing school would be together so we decided to do it up and go to a, “all-inclusive” party at the Sheraton in downtown Baltimore.
After NYE it was straight to work studying for the NCLEX. I had been told that it could take up to four weeks for my license to be posted and that I needed to take it right away! I had been planning on studying all of January so you can imagine my surprise (nice way to put it) when I found out I had to take it ASAP. I ended up dropping $350 to do the Hurst Review, studied for one day and then woke up at 5am to drive to DC to take it. Needless to say the whole experience was unpleasant. Advice to future students: If you are planning on continuing from the BSN to the MSN program right away, you will need to take your NCLEX a month before you want to start. After all that my license was posted on the BON website the next day…..
Now I am gearing up to start the FNP program, (SEVEN classes in the first semester), and trying to find a place to move in with my two friends from nursing school who are sticking around. I hope to find a place in upper fells or the Patterson park area so I can either walk to school or utilize the free student shuttle that goes around there. Wish us luck!
