An additional 164 students in the accelerated class of 2007 are expected to receive bachelor of science degrees and will become the largest accelerated class on record.
Among the 70 graduate degrees conferred in May, 45 students received a master of science in nursing (MSN); 18 a joint MSN and master of public health (MPH); three a joint MSN and master of business administration (MBA); and four a doctor of philosophy (PhD).
Following the commencement ceremony, the Nu Beta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing inducted 88 of the graduating baccalaureate students, 33 master’s students, one PhD student, and four Hopkins nurse leaders.
Rear Admiral Carol A. Romano, Assistant Surgeon General and Chief Nurse Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, presented the key-note address at both the commencement and Sigma Theta Tau ceremonies. Romano brought greetings to the graduates from the U.S. Surgeon General and noted, “Our country depends on its nurses and nurses play an essential role in the front line of promoting, protecting, and ensuring the health of our nation.”
