With a long track record of advocacy and research in the prevention of hypertension and cardiovascular disease, Dean Emerita Martha Hill, PhD, RN, FAAN, was recently inducted as an Honorary Fellow of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA). She was one of three fellows inducted and was highlighted for her investigations in preventing and treating hypertension among urban African-American men.
As President of the PCNA, Cheryl Dennison Himmelfarb, PhD, RN, ANP, FAAN, director of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing’s Office for Science and Innovation, said the fellows show leadership in communicating to stakeholders and understand the importance of nursing in managing cardiovascular diseases.
Hill, whose investigations have focused on outcomes for vulnerable and underserved populations, has also served as president of the American Heart Association and was the first of two non-physicians to be named to the position.
