New Hopkins Nurses, We Can’t Wait to Call You Our Colleagues

As we near the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new generation is stepping up to become Hopkins Nurses. At orientation, they were cloaked (virtually) in their white coat, symbolizing the nurse’s commitment to compassionate care. White coats were gifted to students by alumni and friends of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and student received messages of welcome in their pockets.

From Johns Hopkins President Ron Daniels:

“You are entering the most trusted profession at a critical moment. You are one of the most diverse classes we’ve ever had. You will be the critical connectors in times of great need for your patients.”

From keynote speaker and Boston Children’s Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Laura Wood:

“This moment in history offers the most significant inflection point of our lifetimes for change. You have an opportunity for growth in each daily patient interaction. That is where your nursing journey begins.”
