Assistant Professor Leigh Montejo, DNP, FNP-BC, has been appointed interim Track Coordinator in the DNP Advanced Practice Program for the Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track, following an extensive internal selection process. An educator since 2015, Dr Montejo has experience in distance education and the incorporation of innovation, simulation, and technology to promote student engagement and improve learning outcomes in remote learning environments.
As a nationally certified family nurse practitioner since 2011, Dr. Montejo has been committed to improving care access through clinical practice in federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), the Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System, and convenience care clinics. Her current clinical practice is in employer-sponsored onsite wellness clinics. Dr. Montejo implements evidence-based best practices in her roles as an educator and clinician, and her scholarly interests include online nursing education and competency evaluation, health care simulation and technology, and interventions to improve primary care access and patient health outcomes.
