Students Make Cranes for Peace

or

It was a devastating loss to one of our most dear colleagues at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Eugene Mobley, a security officer who ensures the safety of our school while greeting all who enter with a smile, lost his daughter earlier this year in a suspected case of intimate partner violence. Our students couldn’t just sit by.

Through a display of origami cranes, Kristin Lyman of the baccalaureate class and others expressed their deepest sympathies and offered Mobley their hands in support, unity, and comfort. An ancient tradition that symbolizes peace, the cranes were also accompanied by an emblem of hope that reads: “When a member of the SON community begins the healing process, we are all here to offer our restorative energy and encouragement.”
