Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Associate Professor Joan Kub was named Chair of the Quad Council Coalition of Public Health Nursing Organizations. She will oversee the coalition’s mission of sustained excellence in public health nursing education, practice, leadership, and research.
The coalition, which helps set the national policy agenda around public health nursing issues, is made up of the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators, the Association of Public Health Nurses, the Public Health Nursing section of the American Public Health Association, the National Association of School Nurses, and the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments.
Kub, PhD, MA, PHCNS, BC, FAAN, selected for her leadership within the ACHNE and her most recent role as its past-president, is a public health nurse and a behavioral scientist whose research covers substance misuse, domestic violence, end-of-life care, and more within the context of public health.

The Quad Council Coalition recognizes its significance and helps create collaboration among all the organizations working to strengthen public health nursing’s impact. Throughout her career, Kub has focused on numerous facets of public health nursing with her recent work on assessing bullying within East Baltimore elementary schools. She launched an anti-bullying program to measure health outcomes and improve safety of schools and families. As a researcher, she has co-investigated studies on dating violence, workplace violence, and childhood asthma in urban settings, and she holds joint appointments in the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health.
