Kelly Lehner Welsh will be the new Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON).
Lehner Welsh, who assumes her responsibilities as Associate Dean on May 1, will serve as the School’s chief financial officer, providing strategic leadership and oversight for its financial and select administrative operations. She was chosen for “her research administration and finance background, experience managing large and complex systems, and interpersonal style,” according to Dean Martha N. Hill, PhD, RN, FAAN.
In more than 20 years at the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health, most recently in the Department of Epidemiology, Lehner Welsh has been “highly respected as a model administrator,” Hill said, overseeing the daily operations of a teaching and research group with an annual sponsored research budget of over $75 million, 90 faculty, and 250 staff. At the Bloomberg School, she was a member of the Department of Epidemiology Faculty Executive Committee, the Committee on Equity, Diversity & Civility, and the Staff Recruitment and Retention Committee.
Lehner Welsh, who lives in Perry Hall, Md., said she hopes to use that experience to “establish strong working relationships at every level of the organization to further the mission of the School of Nursing.”
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and management from the Johns Hopkins University School of Professional Studies in Business and Education and is completing a master’s degree in management with specialization in research administration from Emmanuel College in Boston.
