The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) fell silent at 2:50 p.m. yesterday, exactly one week after bombs went off amid spectators gathered at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
Among those injured in the April 15 attack were 2009 SON alum Jessica (Kensky) Downes and husband Patrick.
The two minutes of silence, in classrooms, hallways, and across the JHUSON campus, were to honor them and all victims of the attack.
Well-wishers from the School of Nursing and Johns Hopkins Hospital are also conveying their thoughts to the Downeses through Twitter at #PatandJess (#bostonmarathon and #bostonstrong) and on a 10-foot by 4-foot banner that will be taken to Boston in the coming weeks.
A JHUSON address links to a fund established to support the Downeses’ recovery from their injuries that is now being visited by friends and supporters from their alma maters, JHU and Boston College.
