Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) National Advisory Council member and longtime friend of Johns Hopkins Nursing Worth B. Daniels, Jr., M.D., died July 9. An obituary published in the Raleigh/Durham News Observer, a newspaper once owned by his family, noted "Dr. Daniels was a gentle man with strong beliefs."As described in the Baltimore Sun, the JHUSON established in 2005 the Worth B. Daniels, Jr. M.D. Award, named for its first recipient. The award is bestowed on individuals who are not graduates of the school, but who have given exemplary and sustained service to its students. Daniels, a 1948 graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), had been a nursing advocate and Hopkins supporter throughout his career.
