    • Thread Information Session Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm Location: JHU East Baltimore Campus Details:

Thread is weaving a new social fabric in Baltimore, and we are looking for volunteers to join our movement. Thread disrupts the pattern of social isolation by enrolling 9th grade students who rank in the lowest 25 percent of their class academically and who face additional challenges outside of the classroom. These students and volunteers form Thread Families where they build reciprocal and transformative relationships to help each other through the ups and downs of life.

Thread currently works with 415 students and alumni and 1000+ volunteers, with plans to reach 7% of Baltimore's entire 9th grade class. We are looking for volunteers to work with students, lead a team of volunteers, or support out organization as resource team members baed on your skills and expertise. Thread's work is getting national recognition for its unique approach to connecting people across lines of race, class, and zip code. Join the Thread movement!

Information Session is at Johns Hopkins Medical Campus, Miller Research Building Rm G01, 733 N Broadway from 6-7pm

    • Anti-Oppressive Care For HIV and AIDS Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Location: SON 217-Pinkard Bldg Details:

How do practitioners address power and privilege in health professional relationships? What strategies exist to center anti-oppression in holistic care? In light of World AIDS Day, SOURCE is partnering with the School of Nursing to highlight the intentional ways Sisters Together And Reaching (STAR) utilized anti-oppressive frameworks to care - which focus on helping service providers understand power and privilege especially in a health service relationship. These frameworks help shift the power dynamic in helping relationships and program design.

      For example:

      • Structural Competence
      • Harm Reduction
      • Basic Needs Centering
      • Trauma-Informed Care
      • Transformative Justice
