      • Physiologic impact of opioid use and substance use treatment
      • Overdose Prevention Sites
      • Narcan Training

      There will be a panel and presentation on harm reduction in the context of the opioid crisis from 2-4 pm on Tuesday, November 12. Panelists will be coming to speak from REACH Health Services (a local outpatient substance use recovery program) as well as other local community-based organizations.

      Sharing Our Knowledge: Native American Heritage Month Event with Alum Kendra Cornwell – November 13, 2019 5 – 7:00 p.m. Carpenter Room


      Join the Nursing Student Senate for dinner and a zoom session with Kendra Cornwell, MSN Entry Alum. Kendra Cornwell, PhD, MEd, MSN, RN, graduated from JHSON in August 2017. Kendra currently works in Tribal health in Alaska as an OB/ER Nurse. Prior to her time in Alaska Kendra worked at Sophie Tretteveck Indian Health Center in Neah Bay Washington as a clinical nurse for the Makah Tribe. Kendra was awarded the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Scholarship for 2018-2020.  Prior to her career in nursing Kendra had a 25 year long career in education and served in Gambia, West Africa for the Peace Corps from 1999-2001.

    • Promoting Diversity Among Nursing Faculty Force Time: 8:30am - 12:00pm Locations: 525 North Wolfe Street, Baltimore MD Details: Dr. Deborah Johnson presents and talks about the Diversity Research Network, a model of institutional mentoring to provide support for faculty of color and diversity scholars alike with a unique approach to institutional mentoring. She will also discuss best practices and models of mentoring. Dr. Johnson is Professor of Human Development and Family Studies and Director, Diversity Research Network at Michigan State University.
