      Visual journalist Katie Peek will cover the basics of good chart design and share data visualization strategies and secrets, including examples of her own work.

      The webinar is free and open to doctoral and graduate students, faculty,  and others in the Johns Hopkins community.

      Katie Peek

      Katie Peek creates data visualizations on science topics for general-interest magazines. Her background includes an astrophysics Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley and a science journalism degree from NYU. She's been working as a visual journalist for the past decade, first at Popular Science magazine and independently since 2016. She contributes to Scientific American, Audubon, and the New York Times magazine, among others. She also writes articles and illustrates books.

      Do you have accommodations in your academic program at the JHSON and are unsure of how that will translate when applying, interviewing, and accepting offers for employment in nursing? Then this presentation is for you! Join leaders from the Office of Institutional Equity at JHU; leaders from Organizational Equity with Johns Hopkins Health System; Student Affairs and the Career Lab from JHSON for a virtual presentation on this topic.

      We will be sharing information on the differences between accommodations in an academic program vs. the workplace, tips on disclosing disabilities to potential employers, and the accommodation request process at John Hopkins Health System (and generally).
