The General Preventive Medicine Residency Program is pleased to invite you to the annual J Douglas Colman Grand Rounds Lecture featuring a distinguished Bloomberg School of Public Health Alumnus Dr. Celine Gounder, MD, ScM, FIDA, Senior Fellow and Editor-at-Large for KFF and Kaiser Health News.
Dr. Gounder will present “Journalism is Determinant of Health” on Monday May 15, 2023, from 2p-3:15p ET in Sheldon Hall (W1214, Wolfe St Building, Bloomberg School of Public Health) that will include a Q&A session with the audience.

Dr. Janiece Taylor, PhD, MSN, RN
Janiece Taylor is an assistant professor on the research/education tract at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Her research is focused on identifying and addressing disparities in pain in older women from underrepresented racial ethnic groups and improving quality of life and health outcomes in people aging with disabilities. She earned her PhD in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. She completed an Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral fellowship in Biobehavioral Pain Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Taylor was selected as the first nurse in the Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Harold Amos Fellowship Program. She is testing an intervention, Depression and Pain Perseverance through Empowered Recovery (DAPPER), among community-dwelling older African American women using human-centered design, funded by the RWJ Harold Amos Fellowship and the Johns Hopkins Older Adults Independence Center. Further, she is funded to identify and address needs of caregivers with disabilities. She is co-associate director of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing RESILIENCE Center and principal faculty in the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Center for Equity in Aging. Throughout her career, she has received funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation, National Institute of Nursing Research, Mayday Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Harold Amos Medical Faculty Program.

The COMPASS journal club is an opportunity for SON students to critically evaluate recent articles from academic literature on subjects related to our mission and vision. The journal club aims to create awareness about current issues, research, opportunities, and initiatives.
Through journal club, we hope to foster opportunities for JHU students and faculty to dialogue about current issues in the field. We encourage participants to share their view regarding the appropriateness of the research design, statistical methods employed, and conclusions drawn from the findings. The COMPASS center welcomes full time faculty and students to attend.

End of Early Registration for Summer 2023 Prerequisite Courses Time: All Day Locations: Online Details:
Students who have an active JHED ID can register for courses at https://sis.jhu.edu/sswf/.
First-time students need to submit a simple online application form at https://nursing.jhu.edu/academics/programs/prerequisites/apply.html before they'll be able to register for coursework. Please note: You will not receive your JHED ID until 24-48 hours after the application has been submitted. With this in mind, you should plan to submit your application at least 48-72 hours in advance of the registration deadline.

The online chat is a great way to ask any questions you may have, or see other questions being asked that you may not have thought to ask yourself. An abundance of information is discussed and we hope you will join us. Be sure your computer has Java properly installed and enabled, and your pop up blocker is turned off in order to successfully log into the chat. Chat sessions will become active 15 minutes before the start time to allow students to join.
