    • Online Webinar on G-Cares: Graduate Competencies and Recommendations for Educating Nursing Students in Primary Palliative Care. Time: 3:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Online Details:

Join us on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. EDT for the next edition of the APRN Education Webinar Series, when Polly Mazanec, PhD, ACNP-BC, AOCN, ACHPN, FPCN, FAAN, presents G-Cares: Graduate Competencies and Recommendations for Educating Nursing Students in Primary Palliative Care. This course is offered to all interested participants as a continuing nursing education service and to HPNA members with no course attendance fee.

The webinar is designed to provide learners with access to the NEW graduate competencies for educating masters and doctorate nursing practice students in primary palliative care. These competencies, essential for all graduate level nursing students, recognize the need to prepare advanced practice nurses and future leaders in nursing to provide primary care to their patients with common palliative care needs. The long-term outcome is to prepare students to address the uncomplicated needs of millions of patients with serious illness and their families and refer to specialty palliative care when the needs are complex.

Dr. Manzanec is a Research Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland, OH, and a Co-Investigator on a Web-based intervention for long-distance caregivers of patients with advanced cancer. She has been on the ELNEC facility since 2001 and is the Co-PI and Project Director for Dr. Betty Ferrell’s ELNEC Cambia Health Foundation funded nursing education project. Dr. Mazanec has also been a member of the HPNA Board of Directors since January 2017.

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) under provider number P0284. Successful course completion earns the RN participant 1.0 continuing nursing education (CNE) award (60 minutes/contact hour) This course is offered to all interested participants as a continuing nursing education service. To receive CNE award, participants must be registered, attest to attendance, and complete/submit a post-activity evaluation within the time frame designated. No partial CNE credit will be awarded.
