    • Depending on the Family: The Crisis of Freedom in US Hospice Care Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Location: Chevy Chase Auditorium, Sheik Zayed Tower 2119A Details:

      A Berman Institute of Bioethics Seminar: Harold Braswell, PhD, will examine how the US hospice system has come to depend on the assistance of familial caregivers. He argues that, due to historical shifts, US families are increasingly unable to provide this care. The result is a systemic crisis in hospice delivery that imperils the very freedom of the dying.

      A community-driven reseach day will be held on the 2nd floor of the Welch Medical Library on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 1-4 p.m. Focus areas will include addiction aoverdose, environmental health, obesity and the food system, adolescent health, and violence. The UHI will offer funding to support collaborations that result from participation.
