      Come hear about some incredible critical care experiences from Hopkins’s very own Jennifer Milesky. Jen has an extensive ICU experience at University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins Hospital working as a Lung ECMO and CCU nurse. You’ve seen her as your clinical instructor, your professor- now come hear her in an intimate setting over some lunch! Limited space available- first come, first serve basis.

We have also attached a flyer where you may donate online.  Soccer Without Borders is a local organization in Baltimore that serves newcomer refugees boys and girls ages 5 – 21 through after-school and summer programs with an emphasis on academic enrichment, English language development, and family engagement.

      Melissa deCardi Hladek PhD, CRNP, FNP-BC received her PhD here at Johns Hopkins and is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow jointly in the School of Medicine and School of Nursing continuing her research on self-efficacy, stress, resilience and the use of sweat as a reliable data source in older adults.  Dr. Hladek attended Columbia University for her bachelors and masters degrees in nursing and, Scripps College for her first bachelors degree in neuroscience.  As a clinician, Dr. Hladek has worked in prison health, rural health and for the last 8 years, a primarily Spanish-speaking immigrant community in Washington, DC.  Dr. Hladek is Puerto-Rican and thrilled to be a small part of the Latinx community and happy to share any wisdom and insight she can.

      If you plan on job searching in California, this session is highly recommended! You will learn about which organizations hire new grads and NPs, common timelines for applying/interviewing/starting, and how to market yourself in a competitive candidate pool. The information presented is based on Career Services’ meetings with hiring managers at organizations including Cedars-Sinai, Children’s Hospital of LA, Rady Children’s, Scripps, Sharp, Stanford, Stanford Children’s, UCLA, and USCF Children’s.

      UHS Wellness is sponsoring a free yoga class at the Cooley Center!  Our outdoor series is coming indoors for the winter at a new time. Join us on Wednesday evenings (7:15-8:15 pm) to flow through your week with certified yoga instructor and preventive medicine resident Margarita Ramos. You do not need to have a Cooley Center membership or buy class passes to participate. This class is free to all students and trainees! Mats are provided; no registration necessary.

      Right now, the American Red Cross is facing a blood emergency and has issued an urgent call for eligible individuals of all blood types to #GiveNow and help save patient lives!  Donors are in high demand during the winter months to ensure bloodbanks have enough in supply to treat patients and prepare for emergencies.

      The next DNP AP Student Forum of the Spring semester will be on Thursday, February 28, 1:30pm-2:30pm EST in Room 401. This session will be led by Associate Director DNP Advanced Practice Program, Dr. Susan Renda and many of our SON faculty.

      The topic of this month’s student forum is the DNP Project: Expectations & Process. Dr. Sue Verrillo will be giving a brief overview about the expectations and process of the DNP Project.
