    • Chat Session for MSN Entry into Nursing questions Time: 3:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Online Details: The online chat is a great way to ask any questions you may have, or see other questions being asked that you may not have thought to ask yourself. This chat is for those who have an interest in our Master's of Science in Nursing Entry into Nursing Program or are thinking of a nursing career.

      An abundance of information is discussed and we hope you will join us. Be sure your computer has Java properly installed and enabled, and your pop up blocker is turned off in order to successfully log into the chat. Chat sessions will become active 15 minutes before the start time to allow students to join. Registration required.

    • Last day of Extended Registration for Fall 2019 Prerequisite Courses (for remaining available seats) Time: All Day Locations: Online Details:

      We have extended our initial registration period which originally ended on January 7. Registration will be open for the Spring 2020 courses until 5:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, as space allows. Once all course sections have met capacity (either before or by this date), registration will close for that course.

      With our semester beginning on Tuesday, January 14, it is important to remember that the later you register, the less time you will have to review course materials and complete Module 1 assignments by the due date of Monday, January 20.

      If you have any other questions about taking prerequisite courses with us, please review our Prerequisite FAQ.

      Please note: While the application may still be open on January 14, you will not receive your JHED ID until 24 hours after the application has been submitted. With this in mind, you should plan to apply no later than 11:59pm (ET) on January 13, otherwise you will not be able to register for courses by/on January 15.

      After registering, it will take 24 hours for the course to appear in your Blackboard course listings. Please keep this in mind, as it means you will not be able to begin reviewing course materials or completing assignments until a full day after you register for the course. Extensions will not be granted due to late registration, so please plan accordingly.

      School of Nursing Student Senate Representative Meeting, all senators and representatives  are required to attend.  Members of the student body are welcome to observe; and per constitution have the option to offer suggestions, feedback, and express grievances after all other senate business has been completed.  To submit suggestions for Senate review, please complete the form here.

    • Using JHM Data For Research: Everything I wanted to Know about the Data Trust (but was afraid to ask) Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Locations: SON 10-Pinkard Bldg Details:

      Researchers are often puzzled as to why a project is referred for Data Trust review and what best practices can avoid such a review. This session will help you navigate Data Trust reviews, reduce risks to patient data, and implement best practices for data management using enterprise resources. Best of all, implementing these practices may streamline the IRB review process.

      Valerie Smothers is the Data Trust Administrator for Johns Hopkins Medicine. She provides leadership in the development of data governance policies, processes, and infrastructure for use across Johns Hopkins Medicine and coordinates across 9 Data Trust Analytic Teams and approximately 200 data analysts. Working with faculty and operational leaders, she manages data governance processes to review the use of Johns Hopkins Medicine Data for research and quality improvement and serves as the point person for data governance operational issues. She contributes to programs for business intelligence workforce development and data literacy programs for management.
