DC Alumni Panel and Networking Event Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm Locations: Washington, DC Details:
Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Dean Patricia Davidson and the University of Wollongong will visit San Francisco, CA and Washington, DC to host a panel discussion and networking reception.
Hear from some of the world’s leading innovators who are using technology to shape the way individuals and organizations learn, develop, and grow. Explore ways in which technology provides an immersive training experience and how virtual reality and simulation-based learning can meet the education, compliance, and development needs of health care organizations.
A panel discussion with Q&A will begin at 6:30pm, followed by a networking reception at 7:30pm.
Drinks and light fare will be provided. Alumni and guests are complimentary. Please consider making a donation to the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in support of this event.

Dr. Macaden is a recipient of the 2019 Churchill Fellowship and a visiting scholar. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland and former Professor in Nursing and a former Professor in Nursing from the Christina Medical College, Vellore. Dr. Macaden has developed Being Dementia Smart (BDS) and Dementia Enhanced Education to Promote Excellence (DEEPE). She will talk about the DEEPE during this event

Last day to register for Fall 2019 Prerequisite Courses Time: All Day Locations: Online Details:
Students who are registered for our prerequisite courses get access to their course site(s) in Blackboard one week before the course begins. This date is also the deadline for registering to take prerequisite courses with us for the upcoming semester. With our Fall 2019 semester beginning on Tuesday, September 3, course sites will be opening to students on August 27. This is also the final day to register for prerequisite courses in our Fall 2019 semester.
If you have any other questions about taking prerequisite courses with us, please review our Prerequisite FAQ.
Please note: While the application may be open on August 27, you will not receive your JHED ID until 24 hours after the application has been submitted. With this in mind, you should plan to apply no later than August 26, otherwise you may not be able to register for courses on August 27.

Guest Lecture with Dr. Silvia Koton, Tel Aviv University Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Locations: SON 510-Boardroom-Pinkard Bldg Details:
Dr. Silvia Koton is Associate Professor at the Department of Nursing, Tel Aviv University and holds appointments as Adjunct Associate Professor at JHU, both at SON and the Department of Epidemiology, SPH. She received her BSN-RN from The Hebrew University, Jerusalem, her Master’s degree in Occupational and Environmental Health from Tel Aviv University (TAU) and her PhD in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine from TAU. She was Chair of Nursing at TAU in 2014-2018 and currently on Sabbatical at JHSPH.
Her talk will focus on trends in stroke incidence in the US and Israel, based on data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) cohort study and national data from the National Acute Stroke ISraeli (NASIS) registry.
