      Hello Nursing Students!

My name is Jesse Gordon, and I am reactivating the Gertrude Stein Society chapter at the School of Nursing. The Gertrude Stein Society is a student-led organization for the LGBTQA+ community at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, School of Public Health, and School of Nursing.

Gertrude Stein was an American author, poet, and patron of the arts, who also went to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. After she survived Nazi-occupied France as a Jewish lesbian in the 1940’s, she went on to influence people such as Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso. Additionally, she was credited with coining the term gay to mean homosexual.

Our group at the School of Nursing will work closely with the School of Medicine and School of Public Health to organize events, socials, and fundraisers aimed at enriching and supporting our community.

If you would like to learn more about our group and the upcoming events, please join us on Wednesday the 5th @ 4pm over zoom.
