      Join our Virtual Student Panel Session designed for prospective students interested in our MSN Entry into Nursing program. This panel will give insight into the daily lives of some of our current students, how they balance and what they enjoy about the program. During this virtual session, discussions will also focus on student organizations and the rigor of the coursework and clinical training.

    • Chat Session for MSN Entry into Nursing questions Time: 3:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Online Details: The online chat is a great way to ask any questions you may have, or see other questions being asked that you may not have thought to ask yourself. An abundance of information is discussed and we hope you will join us. Be sure your computer has Java properly installed and enabled, and your pop up blocker is turned off in order to successfully log into the chat. You'll get the chance to see how the courses are setup, what laboratory assignments might look like, and get a general feel for what it is like taking your prerequisite courses with us.

      The COMPASS journal club is an opportunity for SON students to critically evaluate recent articles from academic literature on subjects related to our mission and vision. The journal club aims to create awareness about current issues, research, opportunities, and initiatives.

      Through journal club, we hope to foster opportunities for JHU students and faculty to dialogue about current issues in the field. We encourage participants to share their view regarding the appropriateness of the research design, statistical methods employed, and conclusions drawn from the findings.  The COMPASS center welcomes full time faculty and students to attend.

      Registration will be open for the Fall 2022 courses until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31st, as space allows. With this in mind, new students must apply no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on August 29th, otherwise you will not be able to register for courses. You will receive your JHED ID 24-48 hours after the application has been submitted and you will need this ID to complete the registration process.

      Join us for a Diversity Dimensions Experience focused on JHSON’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in our admissions process. Each month will highlight a diverse and unique population and their potential impact on the profession of Nursing.

      For this month, Assistant Director of Diversity Initiatives Alexander Murphy will facilitate a discussion on Johns Hopkins Nursing research and initiatives focused on mental health and wellness in historically marginalized or underrepresented groups of people. With a focus on special populations, we intend to highlight resources accessible to current students and those belonging to these communities.

    • LAST DAY OF EXTENDED REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2022 PREREQUISITE COURSES Time: 8:30am - 5:00pm Locations: Online Details:

      We have extended our initial registration period which originally ended on August 22nd. Registration will be open for the Fall 2022 courses until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31st, as space allows. Once all course sections have met capacity (either before or by this date), registration will close for that course.

      With our semester beginning on Tuesday, August 30th, it is important to remember that the later you register, the less time you will have to review course materials and complete Module 1 assignments by the due date.

      If you have any other questions about taking prerequisite courses with us, please review our Prerequisite FAQ.

      Please note: New students, you will not receive your JHED ID until 24-48 hours after the application has been submitted. With this in mind, you should plan to apply no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on August 29th, otherwise you will not be able to register for courses.

      After registering, it will take 24 hours for the course to appear in your Canvas course listings. Please keep this in mind, as it means you will not be able to begin reviewing course materials or completing assignments until a full day after you register for the course. Extensions will not be granted due to late registration, so please plan accordingly.

       
       
    • Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds: Holy Cowpox: A Nursing Guide to Vaccine Update and Hesitancy Time: 11:30am - 1:00pm Locations: SON Details:

      In honor of National Immunization Monththis grand rounds will be co-hosted with the Center for Infectious Disease and Nursing Innovation (CIDNI) at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Dr. Jason Farley, ’03, ’08 will moderate the event, and guest speakers will include postdoctoral fellow Dr. Omeid Heidari. '17, '20 and PhD candidates Dominique Guillaume and Keri Geiger. They will discuss roles nurses play in improving vaccine uptake and addressing vaccine hesitancy in their communities. They will also discuss epidemiologic importance of vaccines in efforts to prevent infectious diseases.

      The Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds Series will offer attendees one free contact credit upon completion of a post-event quiz after each session, with the goal of fulfilling the JHSON’s mission of providing lifelong learning for health care professionals within the community. 

      The Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds Series is sponsored by the Nu Beta at Large Chapter of Sigma, the Honor Society of Nursing. The Nu Beta Chapter was established at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1992. In 2018, the Johns Hopkins Health System joined the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing to become the first At-Large Chapter of Sigma.
