Interprofessional Education Using Multiplayer Virtual Reality Time: 5:00pm - 6:00pm Locations: None or Online Details:
Webinar Description:
Virtual reality (VR) is a tool that can shape the way we deliver experiential learning. Interprofessional education (IPE) training is a crucial to the development of collaborative team communication. However, finding adequate time and resources for team training is challenging. The need to support alternative methods of delivery of education has never been more critical. Using a virtual environment for IPE training may allow for more frequent training opportunities not only in the academic setting, but also the clinical setting. Dr. Brown will discuss her work with a multi-player VR platform with real-time voice communication between participants to allow for collaborative engagement and education while stepping outside of the silos and restraints of a traditional training model.Course Objectives:
1. Discuss the current state of interprofessional education
2. Discuss the current literature related to virtual reality (VR) in healthcare education
3. Describe a multi-player VR pilot study utilizing medical and nursing trainees at a large academic university. This will include the design, implementation, and evaluation of the project.Presenter:
