    • Monthly Biostatistics and Methods Core Workshop: Introduction to Meta-analysis Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Locations: SON 320-Pinkard Bldg Details:

The Office for Science and Innovation (OSI) is pleased to announce that Chakra Budhathoki, PhD, Associate Professor and member of the Biostatistics and Methods Core, will be hosting a seminar titled Introduction to Meta-analysis.

It is common to find multiple individual research studies examining the same research question however, the findings may vary in terms of direction and/or effect size.  Often individual studies lack statistical power to draw robust inferences. As a method of research synthesis, meta-analysis allows researchers to combine relevant studies in a single analysis. Meta-analysis is a powerful tool that needs to be carefully used. This seminar will focus on important statistical methods related to meta-analysis that can be used to combine results from multiple studies. Dr. Budhathoki will discuss the strengths and limitations of meta-analysis as an approach to research synthesis.

Dr. Budhathoki is a biostatistician with experience in study design and analysis. His areas of interest and expertise include randomized controlled trials, mixed-effects modeling and meta-analysis. He was a biostatistician collaborator on two major NIAID funded phase III clinical trials on HIV/AIDS, and several other nursing and medical studies at JHU and elsewhere.

Please RSVP to OSI assist us in catering lunch

This workshop will be recorded and livestreamed
