    • Monthly Biostatistics and Methods Core Workshop: Predictive Modeling Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Locations: Online Details:

The Office for Science and Innovation (OSI) is pleased to announce that Dr. Nancy Perrin, Director of the OSI Biostatistics and Methods Core, will be leading a workshop focused on Predictive Modeling.

Today we hear a lot about big data and predictive analytics.  Predictive models use large number of variables to predict an outcome that it is usually dichotomous.  The most common analytical approach is logistic regression, however, data mining techniques such as Classification and Random Trees, LASSO regression, and Ridge regression approaches are increasing in popularity.  Machine learning approaches such as neural networks are becoming more prevalent in the literature with extremely large data sets.  We will discuss the different methodological and statistical approaches to predictive modeling, selection of variables for the model, and assessing the fit of predictive models.

Dr. Perrin’s areas of expertise include longitudinal study design and analysis, clustered data, psychometrics, and handling messy data that comes along with doing research in real world settings. She is a methodologist and biostatistician with extensive experience in study design and analysis. She has been co-investigator on over 30 federally funded studies in healthcare, community, and international settings using both clinical trials and observational designs.

This workshop will be recorded and livestreamed via Zoom.

    • Chat Session for Advanced MSN, DNP, PhD and DNP/PHD Programs Time: 3:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Online Details: The online chat is a great way to ask any questions you may have, or see other questions being asked that you may not have thought to ask yourself. An abundance of information is discussed and we hope you will join us.
