Film Showing + Q & A: "The Feminist on Cell Block Y" with Richie Reseda on Healing Toxic Masculinity
Richie “Reseda” Edmond-Vargas is a grassroots organizer, advocate, and educator. He co-founded Initiate Justice, a nonprofit that supports previously and currently incarcerated people and their loved ones. Richie spearheaded Success Stories, a program that works directly with men in correctional facilities to host interactive workshops dissecting and questioning toxic masculinity. He creates spaces where men can speak openly with each other, and learn to think critically about their identities and the definition of manhood. The outcome of these workshops was so acclaimed that CNN made a short documentary chronicling his efforts called “The Feminist on Cellblock Y”.
Join us for a viewing of the documentary and a Q & A with Richie about his work.
The goal of Success Stories is to help men liberate themselves from the social prison of performing masculinity, and thus live with integrity and full personhood.
Snacks will be provided. This event is free and open to all.
