    • Henrietta Lacks Memorial Award Time: All Day Locations: None Details:

      The Henrietta Lacks Memorial Award was established in honor of former Turner Station resident and Johns Hopkins cancer patient Henrietta Lacks, whose cells helped make possible ground-breaking advances in medical research. The Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute (UHI) offers this $15,000 award to Baltimore City community-based programs working in partnership with Johns Hopkins faculty, students, or staff to highlight the importance of community-university collaborations, recognize the accomplishments which can be achieved by such partnerships, and continue to support the efforts of the partnership. 

      Nominations are due by October 11, 2021 at 5:00 pm.

    • Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds: Housing Insecurity in the Age of COVID-19 Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm Locations: Online Details: The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in partnership with the Nu Beta at Large Chapter of Sigma will offer a monthly Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds Continuing Nursing Education Series, providing an educational program led by top researchers from around the world. 

      In this October Virtual Grand Round, Dr. Craig Pollack, the Katey Ayers Endowed Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, will examine the scope of housing insecurity in the U.S. Dr. Pollack will also identify ways that housing insecurity contributes to COVID-19 risk. This virtual grand rounds will describe potential policy solutions and clinical approaches to lessen housing insecurity


      The Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds CNE Series will offer attendees one CNE credit upon completion of each session, with the goal of fulfilling the JHSON’s mission of providing lifelong learning for health care professionals within the community. 

      In order to obtain your CNE credit, you must register for the event and complete a post-event evaluation survey that will be emailed to you shortly after the event. You will obtain your CNE certificate one to two business days after the due date for completing the evaluation form.
