We have extended our initial registration period which originally ended on August 27. Registration will now be open for the Fall 2019 courses until 5:00pm on Wednesday, September 4. With our semester beginning on Tuesday, September 3, it is important to remember that the later you register, the less time you will have to review course materials and complete Module 1 assignments by the due date of Monday, September 9.

If you have any other questions about taking prerequisite courses with us, please review our Prerequisite FAQ.

Please note: While the application may still be open on September 4, you will not receive your JHED ID until 24 hours after the application has been submitted. With this in mind, you should plan to apply no later than 11:59pm (ET) on September 2, otherwise you will not be able to register for courses by/on September 4.

    • Suicide Awareness Panel Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm Locations: JHU East Baltimore Campus Details:

Suicide rates in the United States have risen nearly 30% since 1999, and mental health conditions are one of several factors contributing to suicide. In 2013 suicide was the 2nd leading course of death for the age 15-24 years, 2nd leading course of death among ages 25-34 years, 4th leading course of death 35-54 years and 8th among age 55-64 years. This is becoming a national epidemic that requires a multi-faceted approach. The panel discussion is to share with the audience current trends in suicide, screening tool(s) and intervention to bring awareness to the problem. While we may not have all the answers to address the increase in suicidality; sharing and bringing awareness is critical piece of confronting this problem.

    • Visiting Scholoar Presentation: Minister Roger Williams II Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Locations: SON 510-Boardroom-Pinkard Bldg Details:

Roger Williams II is a Christian Minister, a practitioner of global public health and a medical technologist focused on telehealth and telemedicine research. He is the senior health administrator for the free clinic at Family Rescue Center in Canoga Park, California. The clinic serves the public health needs of poor individuals and families in Service Planning Area 2 (SPA 2), of Los Angeles County.

The Health Office at Family Rescue Center provides access to care for many uninsured, poor, disenfranchised patients. Through a partnership with UCLA, patients receive free eye examinations and glasses – and because of great volunteer service providers, patients receive primary health care services in the free clinic.

From the prospective of ministry, the health office is uniquely juxtaposed to understand the deep spiritual and physical needs of the community and the people who live there. Serving as the senior health administrator, Minister Williams II provides comprehensive biblical counseling alongside medical service providers.

Minister Williams is trained in Christian theology and is a graduate of the Academy of Health Sciences in San Antonio, Texas. He holds certificates in global health, anatomy and physiology and is trained in primary health care and systems thinking for primary health care via Johns Hopkins Coursera.
