The COMPASS journal club is an opportunity for SON students to critically evaluate recent articles from academic literature on subjects related to our mission and vision. The journal club aims to create awareness about current issues, research, opportunities, and initiatives.

Through journal club, we hope to foster opportunities for JHU students and faculty to dialogue about current issues in the field. We encourage participants to share their view regarding the appropriateness of the research design, statistical methods employed, and conclusions drawn from the findings.  The COMPASS center welcomes full time faculty and students to attend.

Join Brandon LeBlanc, Assistant Director for MSN Entry into Nursing Recruitment, to learn how you can fund this educational investment towards a nursing career as a prospective MSN Entry into Nursing student. Sherrod Wilkerson, Director of Student Financial Services, will discuss topics such as the Cost of Attendance, Types of Financial Aid, and Loan Repayment and Forgiveness.

The Geographic Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program (GMaP) is an NCI initiative with the goal of contributing to the science of cancer health disparities by inspiring and developing the next generation of cancer researchers. GMaP offers many opportunities available to both faculty and students (including undergraduates), in the form of conferences, trainings, and funding. This nationwide initiative is made up of six regions, and the state of Maryland is located in Region 1 North. The Webinar will cover a range of insights from digital health, particularly focusing on how nurses and clinicians can use data from wearables. There will be an overview of features and metrics using Fitbit as an example. In addition, there will be a review of some of the emerging research around wearables. Finally, the talk describes some of the challenges and opportunities in disseminating health information. There will be an "ask me anything" section for an open-ended discussion.
 
Course Objectives:
1.    Differentiate between wellness metrics and regulated features in a wearable device
2.    Understand the appropriate clinical use of wellness metrics
3.    Understand the appropriate clinical use of regulated features in a wearable device
4.    Articulate the emotional and intellectual components in disseminating health information

Join us for a Diversity Dimensions Experience focused on JHSON’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in our admissions process. Each month will highlight a different focus on the diverse and unique population of our students and applicants and the potential impact on the profession of nursing.

For this month, we will focus on Pathways to Nursing in Vulnerable Communities with a panel discussion about nursing careers in the military, Native American Reservations and rural areas.

Celebrations for the 50th reunion classes - 1970, 1971, and 1972 - will take place Thursday, March 31 - Saturday, April 2, 2022. Festivities will include class gatherings, educational and social events. Jubilarians will be presented with their 50-year medallion at an alumni brunch on Saturday, April 2. Join us at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing as we celebrate this milestone with you!
