    • Discrimination Journal Club Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm Locations: 525 North Wolfe Street, Baltimore MD Details:

      The objective of this journal club is to facilitate an open space for discussions regarding relationships between racial discrimination and health outcomes. Journal article topics will include experiences of racism across the lifespan for different racial and ethnic groups, and different levels of racism (e.g. interpersonal, institutional, structural). 

      Our next meeting will be on Wednesday March 4th from 12-1:00 p.m. in the School of Nursing Room 324. We are thrilled to have Marlena Fisher as our guest moderator. Marlena is a nurse researcher with expertise in nephrology care and advanced care planning. She will be guiding our discussion of "Everyday Discrimination and Kidney Function Among Older Adults: Evidence From the Health and Retirement Study” by Cobb et al. in the Journal of Gerontology.

    • Journey to the Dean's Office: The Power of Women in Public Health Time: 8:00am - 5:30pm Locations: JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health Details:

      Today, more women are ascending to leadership positions in schools and colleges of public health.

      And no school has trained more women deans than the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Currently, six Bloomberg School alumnae serve as deans of public health schools and colleges accredited by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health.

      On March 23, our own Dean Ellen MacKenzie will join her fellow alumnae for a conversation on women rising to leadership in the field.

      The Institute for Excellence in Education (IEE) and the Office of the Vice Dean for Education of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Education were pleased to co-sponsor this year's IEE Education Conference and Celebration.

      IEE is very proud and excited to bring this annual conference to Hopkins' community of seasoned and budding educators, including many students and trainees. It is specifically designed to provide a venue in which those interested in medical and biomedical education from across the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health can come together to share ideas, educational research, innovations, and instructional methodologies; to learn from each other and guests, promote a community of educators, and celebrate our great teachers and educators.
