      UHS Wellness is sponsoring a free yoga class at the Cooley Center!  Our outdoor series is coming indoors for the winter at a new time. Join us on Wednesday evenings (7:15-8:15 pm) to flow through your week with certified yoga instructor and preventive medicine resident Margarita Ramos. You do not need to have a Cooley Center membership or buy class passes to participate. This class is free to all students and trainees! Mats are provided; no registration necessary.

    • Diversity & Inclusion Series - Nursing Panel Discussion Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Location: SON - Carpenter Room Details: As part of Student Affairs’ Diversity & Inclusion Series, Asian Pacific American Nursing Students Association (APANSA), Black Student Nurses Association (BSNA), and LatinX Advocacy Group will co-host a panel discussion among minority nurses. The discussion will touch on the challenges faced by racial minorities while serving our patients.

      Dr. Dulce Cruz-Oliver is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include internal medicine, geriatrics and palliative medicine. We will open the floor to her and her patient, and have time for questions at the end.       Centro SOL, the Urban Health Institute and the American Academy of Pediatrics Maryland Chapter present the 4th Latinx Health Conference, Mind Your Health: Community-centered Solutions to Mental Health Issues, on March 19, 2019 from 8am to 4pm at 600 S. Conkling St. in Baltimore.

      Margarita Alegría, PhD, Chief of the of the Disparities Research Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital; Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Alegria is a renowned researcher on mental health topics and has been widely recognized and cited.

      Community solutions to address mental health issues, acculturation, protective factors, disparities in treatment and prevention of mental health issues among Latinx, mental health as a public health problem will be among the relevant and timely topics discussed.

      We welcome you to join us for an interactive and engaging conference.

      The Latinx Health Conference is open for those interested in Latinx mental health including community leaders, healthcare providers, policymakers, researchers and graduate students.

      Have you ever found yourself at a loss of words when talking about death? Do you know how to handle your patient's end of life wishes? Join us for our workshop series to start the conversation on advance directives and advance care planning.

      In critical care settings, one finds themselves with voices lost and conversations about end of life can become a guessing game. Learn more about how to put your feelings about death and end of life in writing and give guidance to your medical team when you’re not able. Learn how to be a more holistic care giver.

      This workshop will be a two-part series presented by Dr. Valerie Cotter, focusing on the importance of advance care planning in the critical care setting. Join us for one or both sessions. Dinner will be provided.

    • Current Concepts in the Evaluation and Management of Lipid Disorders Time: 8:00am - 4:00pm Location: 525 North Wolfe Street, Baltimore MD Details: Are you up to date on guidelines to evaluate and manage various lipid disorders? This new program prepares participants to utilize the latest clinical guidelines in practice as well as prepare for the clinical lipid specialist examination. Topics covered in this course will include, pathophysiology, laboratory evaluation, risk assessment, primary prevention, and an introduction to the genetic component of hyperlipidemia.
