      Some families go without the basic essentials. Items such as cleaning supplies can make a difference. Donate to the SOURCE Tri-School Household Cleaning Supplies Drive! SOURCE is accepting new and unopened cleaning supplies for Baltimore families in need. Items will be donated and distributed to families through our community-based partner organizations. Collection boxes will be located in JHSPH Student Lounge and Student Affairs (E1002), SON Lobby and SOM Armstrong Building Lobby. Items can also be dropped off at SOURCE – 615 N. Wolfe St., W1600.     • Opioid Overdose & Narcan Training Time: 12:30pm - 1:30pm Location: 525 North Wolfe Street, Baltimore MD Details: The Nursing Students for Harm Reduction invite you to:

      Opioid Overdose and Narcan Training: February 4, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in room 140, lunch provided! (Come early to grab food, we will start on time at 12:30)

      You will soon graduate as a medical professional. Would you know how to save someone in the event of an opioid overdose? Do you know how to tell if it is an opioid overdose? Do you know the laws surrounding the topic in Baltimore?

      Come learn about the current state of affairs in harm reduction and learn how to recognize an opioid overdose, how to respond, and how to administer Narcan/naloxone. Lunch provided, and each attendee will receive a free naloxone kit to take with them, or, please consider a $5 donation to help cover the cost of your kit. All donations go towards the Baltimore Harm Reduction Coalition, an organization that gives out free naloxone to people who use drugs in Baltimore.       Hannah Fegley, LCSW-C, and the session facilitator, is a clinician and program manager of the Johns Hopkins Student Assistance Program (JHSAP).

      Hannah is passionate about serving college and graduate students and has over 7 years of experience working with a student population in both academic and outpatient settings providing counseling, case management, crisis intervention and workshops. Hannah’s graduate education (MSW) at Smith College had a strong social justice focus; and that education combined with her personal and professional experiences have deepened her commitment to providing care to students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

This Black History Month, we want to celebrate underrepresented minorities involved in innovative research here at JHSON and highlight their contributions to this legacy. From Dr. Fannie Gaston-Johansson, the first African-American woman to be tenured at JHU, to current faculty, doctorate students, clinical nurse researchers and more, diverse researchers are making great strides in promoting health equity and social justice. This event provides an opportunity to learn more about these researchers, network with faculty, alumni, and fellow students, and find out how you can get involved.     • Pitt Prehealth Summit Networking Fair 2019 Time: 12:00am - 12:30pm Location: Off-Campus or Various Locations Details: The Coalition of Pre-Health Students (CPHS) is a student led umbrella organization at the University of Pittsburgh with the goal of representing the collective voices of the pre-health students. Currently, CPHS represents 15 individual undergraduate organizations and over 700 students, and strives to make a positive impact for the entire pre-health community at Pitt.       Melissa deCardi Hladek PhD, CRNP, FNP-BC received her PhD here at Johns Hopkins and is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow jointly in the School of Medicine and School of Nursing continuing her research on self-efficacy, stress, resilience and the use of sweat as a reliable data source in older adults.  Dr. Hladek attended Columbia University for her bachelors and masters degrees in nursing and, Scripps College for her first bachelors degree in neuroscience.  As a clinician, Dr. Hladek has worked in prison health, rural health and for the last 8 years, a primarily Spanish-speaking immigrant community in Washington, DC.  Dr. Hladek is Puerto-Rican and thrilled to be a small part of the Latinx community and happy to share any wisdom and insight she can.
