      The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and SOURCE are excited to announce a new opportunity for a winter break immersion to Baltimore!  Through this immersion experience (Jan 20-24, 2014)*, you will have the opportunity to learn more about Baltimore and work with fellow health nursing students on direct service projects around the city of Baltimore. *Note: the dates have been changed to accommodate students taking courses earlier in the break!

       

      Projects will vary throughout the week, as determined by organizational needs.  Organizations that students will possibly work with include: Habitat for Humanity, Civic Works, Moveable Feast, Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, and local area schools.  Service projects could include building projects, community beautification, greening projects, etc.  You will hear from various speakers and community leaders about the history of Baltimore City with a strong focus on East Baltimore, the issues the city faces and the great work people are doing to address those issues.

      The purpose of GuIDE is to increase the pool of competitive applicants for admission to nursing doctoral programs (DNP & PhD) by guiding applicants to select the program that matches their career aspirations. We will also assist them in their preparation and application for admission.

      The GuIDE Bootcamp will offer one and half days of interactive discussion and panel presentations describing the two major doctoral educational opportunities: DNP and PhD.  The GuIDE Bootcamp is scheduled for December 6th and 7th. Both days will be held at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Carpenter Room. 

      Friday, Dec 6th, at The School of Nursing in the Carpenter room – including lunch and dinner out
      Saturday, Dec 7th, at The School of Nursing in the Carpenter room – with a boxed lunch to go

      There is NO Cost to participants. Simply rewards!
      Bootcamp leaders will discuss preparation and application strategies to maximize your strengths, the "Must-Do's" for DNP/PhD applications, professional mentors, coaches, faculty mentors, family/work/school demands, and a question and answer session with a panel of DNP/PhD graduates and current students. Most importantly, dialogue about the differences in the degrees and how they fit or do not fit in to your career trajectory.
