Description: Join JHU School of Nursing Returned Peace Corps Volunteers in the auditorium for a screening of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind and panel discussion to follow with individuals who have lived in Malawi.
A 13-year-old boy is thrown out of the school he loves when his family can no longer afford the fees. He sneaks into the library and learns how to build a windmill to save his village from a famine.
Panel discussion topics will include a general overview of culture and community in Malawi; rebirth, recycling, and reinvention; education and entrepreneurship; science vs superstition and magic; the business of survival; and topics from the audience.
5:15pm- soft start so we can get a slice of pizza (vegan options as well).
5:30pm- The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
7:30pm till 8:30pm or so- Panel Discussion
