HIPAA for Research

Students in Masters, PhD, or DNP must complete this module in addition to the Intermediate Privacy Course for Healthcare Providers.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify the fundamental principles of HIPAA privacy and security as applied to research and ethics
  • Have an understanding of how HIPAA is implemented at Johns Hopkins

How to Login

  1. Go to http://my.jh.edu
  2. Sign in using JHED ID (Contact Information Technology Services if you need one.)
  3. Hover over "Education" in the left-side navigation, and choose "My Learning"
  4. Enter “HIPAA” in the Catalog Search box
  5. Select “HIPAA for Research”
  6. Select “Add to My Plan”
  7. Follow steps to complete course enrollment

Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens

Johns Hopkins' students may potentially come into contact with blood and body fluids. Many harmful pathogens are spread through these substances and the risk of infection is real. This annual training requirement will explain how to reduce or limit exposure to potential bloodborne pathogens.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify different types of blood diseases
  • Define routes of exposure
  • Explain ways to prevent exposure
  • Recognize what to do if you are exposed
  • Demonstrate how to clean up spills

This is the electronic medical records system used by Johns Hopkins Hospital and is required for Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Entry into Nursing students ONLY.
