Chijioke Okeke-Ekpe, MSN, RN

Chijioke Okeke-Ekpe changed his course from med school when he was encouraged to become a family nurse practitioner. His new path then began with the MSN Entry into Nursing program at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. He immersed himself in the student experience and began spreading the word about nursing and its opportunities.

“I wonder how many others are defaulting to medicine because they never thought of nursing as an option?”

He also promotes nursing by volunteering with inner-city high schoolers who have an interest in health care but are unaware of what nursing offers.

LAURA MORO, MPH

The Peace Corps taught Laura Moro cultural understanding, giving her "a second family" in Sao, Senegal. The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing gave her a third, and a chance to continue her commitment to the Peace Corps mission as a nurse.

"With every interaction I had with faculty and staff, I got the feeling that there was a strong sense of community at Johns Hopkins Nursing."

The MSN Entry into Nursing program has put Laura on her dream path toward improving outcomes for mothers and infants in developing countries.
