    • Community-Based Participatory Research Seminar Series Time: 12:10pm - 1:10pm Location: Off-Campus or Various Locations Details:

      This seminar will take place at: Hampton House, Room 208, 624 North Broadway

      Speaker: Phyllis Sharps, PhD, RN, FAAN, Professor, Elsie M. Lawler Endowed Chair, Associate Dean for Community Programs and Initiatives, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.

      The Department of Health, Behavior and Society of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health invites faculty, students, post-doctoral scholars and fellows from all University divisions and centers, and the community to participate in the lunchtime Community-Based Participatory Research Seminar (CBPR Seminar).  This interactive seminar series is designed to enhance our capacity as a university and community in CBPR. Course credit is optional and takes place on the first and third Mondays for the third and fourth term.

    • Ethics for Lunch: Responding to Patients Who Make Racist, Sexist or Otherwise Offensive Comments Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital Details:

      The Ethics for Lunch series meets every third Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:15 in Sheik Zayed Tower, room 2117 (the Arcade). Our April program will feature a discussion on managing patients who make racist, sexist or otherwise offensive comments. Lunch will be provided. 

       
       
    • SON Quarterly Research Coordinators Meeting: IRB Q&A Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Location: SON 305-Pinkard Bldg Details: The Office for Science and Innovation coordinates quarterly meetings amongst School of Nursing research staff, and we would like to open up our April session to all interested faculty, students, and staff. The IRB was identified as an area of interest, therefore this entire meeting will focus on the IRB. We will have representatives from the IRB to discuss the IRB in general, compliance, and a Q&A of any IRB-related questions attendees may have.

    • Media Advocacy Time: 8:00am - 9:00am Location: JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health Details: Join us for a seminar on "Media Advocacy: Working with the Media to Promote Evidence-Informed Policies," our final seminar in the series, Engaging in the Policy Process: A Professional Development Series for the JHU Community on Advancing Evidence-Informed Public Health Policy.       The Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) is debuting a new lecture series, “Third Thursdays with the ICTR”. Each month, speakers will share research related news and showcase a resource and/or service that can aid clinical research study team members. Mark Garcia, administrator, and faculty will discuss the National Center for Translational Sciences (NCATS) policy change affecting those using the ICTR’s clinical research units. All are encouraged to attend, particularly those responsible for grant budgets.

    • The Impact of Climate Change on Global Health: A Chilean Perspective Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm Location: SON - Carpenter Room Details: Join us for an intimate discussion with Marcelo Mena-Carrasco, the Minister of Environment for the Republic of Chile. Mr. Mena-Carrasco is a biochemical engineer with a PhD in environmental engineering. His career has focused on air quality and climate policy and he will be speaking with students about the intersection of climate change and its effect on population health around the world.
