SOURCE Tri-School Toiletry Drive Time: All Day Location: JHU East Baltimore Campus Details:
SOURCE will be collecting new and unopened toiletry items. Examples include but are not limited to: shampoo, soap, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, Q-tips, feminine hygiene products, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes and mouthwash. Items will be donated to a local nonprofit to assist those in need. Collection boxes will be located in JHSPH Student Lounge and Student Affairs (E1002), SON Lobby and SOM Armstrong Building Lobby. Items can also be dropped off at SOURCE – JHSPH, W1600. Co-sponsors for the drive include BFSA, AMWA, SON Staff Committee, Ahimsa and WHSG. Students United for Peace (SUP) invites you to a guest lecture with Arshad Ali, PhD, assistant professor at the George Washington University entitled, “An Empire’s State of Mind: Muslims, Race and Surveillance State” on Thursday, May 4 at noon in Sommer Hall at the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health. The lecture will discuss how historic narratives of Muslim “otherness” play out in contemporary cultural and political discourse, policing practices and through the discrimination and violence on Muslim communities in the US. Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Michael Ward, MEd, will be presenting opening remarks to this talk.
