Center on Health Disparities Research (Retired)

This center is no longer active

The Center on Health Disparities Research was created in 2001 with a five-year grant received from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with the purpose of identifying and eliminating health disparities and enhancing health disparities research.

The Center works to establish and coordinate an infrastructure that supports health disparity research across the life span through the activities of our three research cores:

  • Administrative Core: manages the center activities and assists in coordinating efforts between the Center and partnering institutions

  • Pilot/Feasibility Research Core: focuses on the development and testing of culturally sensitive nursing interventions and active health disparities funded research projects related to disparities in access to care, processes of care, and health outcomes

  • Mentoring Core: works to advance educational and research skills for faculty, students, and other potential nursing researchers from minority serving institutions
